We need an actual category for women's studies because everything else in the world is "men's studies"...what else would you consider HIStory to be? Also, the default for everything is being a white man. That's why there are African American studies departments in schools, and Asian studies, women's studies, etc! If there weren't special areas for these groups to be studied, we'd never hear anything about them.

Women's studies were required because women were always the underdog and the scientist, mostly men, could care less what women felt or how they reacted to their situations and/or environment. Hey they thought that women were only good for certain things and this misconception was handed down through history and the female species is just so complex that a whole new study evolved, thank God. Now as to men's studies, drastically over-rated, it has been done and re-done, and what was the result, men.

Or say i'm more beneficial than you because society says i will't yet, I say i will. in case you want your man or woman particular female scouts club bypass make it. otherwise that is the internet. i'd favor to trust human beings's evaluations count number no count number who they are race, sex, faith. in case you do not care to hearken to the different aspects opinion do not bypass on line. stay with your inbreed information that you except as authentic because it suffices your theories. Are you afraid a male may not furnish you with a pat on the decrease back if you're speaking trash about them? Or attempting to attain equality with the help of speaking of inequalities. Why do not you're making an all white human beings section? which could seem racist good. Like particular remedy. nicely, possibly there should not be an all female section because which could be somewhat sexist. extremely end whining and be someone not a lady personality. we ought to continually not outline ourselves as sexual organs and minor chemistry variations. at the same time as human beings like you cator to the certain remedy it makes you seem susceptible minded and pathetic and provides you a foul call to all those who actual have respectable information and evaluations. you want to point the finger to call someone ignorant factor it at your self. i do not hate female and that i do not even hate you. That's because all of the rest of the studies are "men's studies". Women's studies is an attempt to correct the lack of concern or interest in women's achievements and point-of-view. Men are still considered the default sex; "woman" is an exception, and until special attention was payed to women's studies, there wasn't any attention at all payed to it.
Take, for instance, the National Museum of Women in the Arts. It was begun because an art collector couldn't find _any_ information on women artists. Now, thanks to their efforts, not only are art history text books beginning to pay attention to women, but so are major art museums. Various art museums around the world are actually dusting off works they've had in the basement for centuries that they never showed before because the person who created them had a vagina.
Until we have actual, real equality in this country, we're going to continue needing things like women's studies and Black History Month (same idea).

If there were men's studies, the lesbians who run the women's "rights" movement would have to admit they make all their statistics up to suit whichever "point" they're trying to make.
Fact is, ladies, if you get out there and read what really happened, and learned about the people who were involved, you would be disgusted to share the same kind of plumbing as the feminists.
And Julie, history is a word. It isn't something made up by the evil patriarchy to keep you barefoot and pregnant, you stupid *****.

In a given college, "women's studies" is a pseudoscience designed to funnel moey into feminist organizations and ideals. The same is true with "gender studies," though organizations that have to do with sexual orientaion can also get a share of the goodies by doing this. In contrast, no men's organizations of significant size exist to counter-lobby and have Men's Studies departments built. Of the men's organizations that do exist, they do not agree on whether establishing such departments is even a good idea.
Do not for a moment believe that "everything else is men's studies." That would be an insult to the women in other departments that I know and work with (in particular, chemistry and chemical engineering). Also, do not for a moment believe that women's history (or as some say, herstory) and issues could not be covered under departments that exist already. Instead, know that, after Title IX, funding meant for "women's activities" (not sure of the exact term) went into creating women's studies departments, and that said departments are now a useful way to fund feminists, and legitimatize their ideals as "academic."
As to why this matters on Y! answers... Yahoo! likely set up their Q&A site to match all of the known topics out there, and since women's studies is a part of a large number of colleges, it was likely assumed to be a social science. Since this is not true for men's studies, they likely didn't tihnk of it. Also, since Women's Studies is closely tied with feminism, it draws a large number of those in the GUMB to come and play the troll in this section.
My prescription is that, for Y! answers, that we have both a men's issues and women's issues section, but no women's studies section.

Wow. What blatant misandry we are seeing here. "Men's studies is everything else". This pile of nonsense is up there with "All men are rapists". If anything, "men's studies is everything else" should be regarded as an admission that the person uttering it is not CAPABLE of any of the higher skills required to undertake these disciplines.
In any case, the reason there is no Men's Studies category is because it is typically not regarded as a social science. Certainly there should be a "Men's Issues" section and a "Women's Issues" section, but frankly the notion that there needs to be a social science for either sex is nonsense.

It is called History. Classes like Womens studies, Gay and Lesbian history or African-American history are there to shed light on historically disenfranchised groups and to teach people who are more in the mainstream about THEIR history and struggle, rather than the history of rich, powerful, white, Christian men, which is sadly the main focus of most history classes. Its understandable. For the larger part of human existance (even now, many would argue) white men made the history, wrote the history and decided what people should and shouldnt be taught. Classes like these bring into prominence very historically important people who were previously ignored because they were a part of some minority group. Mens studies would be, frankly redundant. It would be like History of the Heterosexual population; just darn silly.
Edit: Oh, Im sorry, I missread your question. Actually, I agree with you. There should be a section on Yahoo answers specifically for mens issues as well.

It could be because everything is a Men's study...or it could be the word study might scare off some men... or it could be Title 9 at work...
or it could be none of those things.
