wow, immigration song as well. heard stairway to heaven first expecting pounding rock, but it was a bit of a wet lettuce on first listening, so i put led zep on the back shelf for a while... then i found led zep 3 in my mate's dad's record collection and put it on full blast, and of course the first song took our heads clean off. never looked back...
then the bron y aur stomp on said album sealed it, ha ha. tune!

The live version of "Rock and Roll." I bought "the Song Remains the Same," only because I saw a pic of Zeppelin and thought they looked cool - never heard their music. As soon as I played that album, I was hooked, and that's when I decided I wanted to play guitar.
It's true that Zep probably doesn't have a bad song at all. Even the ones I don't like very much are saved by Bonham's drumming. "Fool in the Rain," and "D'yer M'aker" are two I never really liked, but Bonham's drums are awesome on them.
Speaking of that, anyone hear that Christmas song by someone calling himself "Sled Zeppelin"? (I think it's Bob Rivers, who does all kinds of Xmas parodies). It's "D'yer M'aker" with Christmas lyrics - hilarious.

Fun question!
When I was 13 years old, I'd heard of Led Zep, and about how great they were and all, and I went out and got IV, came home, put that disc on my record player, and from the very opening of Black Dog I was hooked, and listened to very little except Zepelin for the next year or two.
Their first album very quickly got to be my fav, followed closely by III. Nowadays I don't listen to them very often, but I think my favorite songs are Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, and Since I've Been Loving You.

It was their first album, period. Years ago, I read of them and learned, from what I read, that Led Zep was the band in mind when the phrase 'heavy metal' was applied to rock music. I do know from the Rolling Stone's Book of Rock lists that Led Zep's style was so overwhelming that Iron Butterfly wouldn't take the stage after them at a concert in 1968. When I read that, I went out and bought Led Zep I. I was hooked instantly and I have not been dissapointed yet.
By the thinnest of margins, 'Dazed and Confused' is my favorite Zep tune. :)

I can't remember the first Led Zeppelin song I heard, but the first time I heard them, I knew I wanted more.
It was probably Black Dog though.
