Has a '71, 4cy, heavy duty block, 98cc. Broke dist collar, bought new. Does anyone know what cyl the rotor needs to point at when dist. is reinstalled.

First you need to rotate the engine so that no 1 piston is at TDC, then you can install the distributor so that the rotor is pointing to the no 1 plug wire on the cap. Then it is just a matter of running a timing lite on it to make any timing adjustment it may need.

put #1 cyl on top dead center and drop in dist,were the rotor point to make that #1 cyl and follow your fireing order,i think ies 1342
