Maybe they never suspected you were an immigrant. I knew this woman for quite a while before I found out she was from Austria. I wouldn't have suspected she was from Europe; she seemed American enough to me.
I personally have no problem with immigrants. I think they help to make America a more interesting place, and immigrants certainly have done much for our economy and culture throughout history.
Heck, our country was even founded by immigrants!

I can't speak for all of my fellow Americans, but I don't really care whether someone was born in a different country or not. because when you think about it, our ancestors or whatever immigrated from somewhere else. the only real Americans are the American Indians or native Americans.
and people are probably shocked when you tell them you weren't born here because you probably don't have an accent or anything, and so i would be shocked too. don't take it personally.

I think this country is great because of the inclusion of all races/nationalities/religions. I graciously greet all newcomers with open arms. I think most people react strongly towards outsiders because they are interested in other cultures. It is a positive reaction, not negative.
The thing I react negatively to is people who choose to come to America, then constantly brag about how much better their country/culture is than ours. I have met many, many immigrants. I find that mostly Germans are guilty of this. Most others I have met are very humble, happy to be here, and just as interested in our culture.

I did not realize that legal immigrants into the USA were a problem
or a big deal at all...
They are fine as long as they can speak enough English to
understand and make themselves understood..

the controversy you have had over wellbeing care reform especially lots sums it up for me- you spot, returned in 2003, you made the determination to flow to Iraq in virtually a pair of weeks time. there became little or no protest if any, and there became somewhat no outrage over the fee of that war. yet whilst your wellbeing care debate began, human beings all started protesting and screaming bloody homicide, virtually tearing their hair out! it took you over a 12 months to attain the element the place the bill finally surpassed in the path of the domicile, and that is nonetheless no longer over. for my area, a determination to start up an entire scale war on distant places soil could warrant a minimum of as lots time, scrutiny, and interest as your wellbeing care debate has warranted, yet that determination became made in a remember of a pair of weeks. i think of u.s. is an tremendously unusual us of a, despite the fact that it somewhat is alluring. it somewhat is an tremendously youthful us of a as properly, and as such that is going to could fall to its knees a number of circumstances till now that is going to become incredibly good over the years.

mainly people are racist solely based on their judge about the race they hate. For example, the KKK hates every race other than white, cuz they think we should go to hell , cuz they think we're invading their country
