School is a learning environment and allowing such shirts or any type of clothing article that may be offensive can not only foster a negative environment, but may distract students from the learning process that the institution stands for.

School authorites are well aware of the 1st Amendment that govern freedom of speech, they also have a moral and societal obligation to look after the best interests of the students and ensure their physical welfare through district policies and dress codes.

1. Because school is a preparation of the big outside world, and such shirts are not permitted in the work place - not showing professionalism at all

2. the companies that make them are not sowing joy and peace, so why should an educational establishment allow the students to 'brag' that they bought such stuff. (I question why companies MAKE them in the first place.)

3. Bad manners, just plain BAD manners to wear clothing that denigrates or defames another person/group of people/ideal/idea. Bad manners.
