Each night before you go to bed, spend about 10 minutes and put everything away. I find this works best for me. The goal is to not let the stuff pile up.

Well sometimes if your room is already cluttered, you can get into that "one more thing won't hurt" way of thinking. Start by throwing out anything you don't need or use anymore. Be brutally honest with yourself too. If you haven't used it in a year, out it goes. Obviously there will be some things that you hang onto for sentimental reasons so why not display them? Make sure everything has it's place. Magazines go in the magazine rack, books go on the shelf, clothes go in the laundry basket etc. That way when you're finished with something, you can put it back right away. Get into the habit of making your bed as soon as you're up cos that alone makes a room look really untidy. Vaccum every 2 days if your room is carpeted. Also make sure you open up the window every once in a while to keep the room smelling fresh. It's really all about staying on top of things and not letting things build up.

For my kids, I use all the space on the walls I can by adding LOTS of shelving, then tubs, baskets, any sort of container to keep things in on the shelves. You can even use dishpans from the dollar store. Or cardboard boxes of all different sizes painted or wrapped with paper or cloth. (the cloth held on put on like wrapping paper and then "taped" with glue)
Of course the key to all of it is to use them and put things away-- right away. It may seem inconvenient at the time, but in the end, it's so nice- no searching for your things or spending an hour cleaning your room every week and even just the joy to walk into a clean room every time makes it all worthwhile! A little bit every day, will keep it clean.
And if that is too hard, just pick up EVERY night before you go to bed. Take that five minutes, to pick up, get tomorrows clothes out, and be set , ready to go first thing in the morning!

I'm a neat freak. . . . I make sure i pick up everyday. . . I have a 3 year old daughter, so i clean several times a day. . . . For the bathroom, i sweep, mop, sanitize the toilet, sink, and tub. . . . .same with the kitchen. I keep everything washed and sanitized. All my dishes will not be put in the cabinet unless they are sanitized and dried with a towel. . . . Living Room, i use a Rug Doctor once a month, and vaccum about 3 times a day. Always make sure your carpet smells fresh.

Organization is the key to keeping anything clean. You need to go to any department type store and by some bins to organize your things. Then organize your closet, long sleeve shirts all together, short sleeves etc...., also I suggest color coordinating also but this may be a bit excessive for you. But this is a good starter and will help you weed out what you really need to keep and what you don't. Happy holidays.

The best thing I've found for keeping my house clean is to make a list of everything that needs to be done. Try to do at least one of those things every day.
By breaking it up into smaller tasks, you don't spend forever doing it.
Also clean like-things. For example, if you pick up something that needs to go into the bathroom, pick up everything that needs to go and take it at the same time and put it away.

Everytime you walk from the room, carry something with you that belongs elsewhere. Use storage boxes for things you are not using now. When in doubt, through it out to the Salvation Army.

I find that having a beautifully decorated room motivates me to keep it neat. So, a fresh coat of paint or a new duvet and some new cushions, a huge declutter, along with lots of storage (a place for everything) helps me to keep my home tidy.

I am a neat freak but I honestly don't clean too much. It's about maintenance. As things get dirty, put them where they go. constantly pick up after everything you do to keep it clean and trust me, it won't be that bad.

Make sure you do it every night! That is my problem. When laundry is done...put it up IMMEDIATELY! When you take your clothes off...make sure they are put in the hamper. It's those little chores that add up. I always put them off and end up having to spend most of the day cleaning. Blech!
