I see the homeless as part of our society. I don't think they are outside of it. Nor would I put them in the same class as an ex-convict. All it takes for many people to become homeless is a major illness or the loss of a job. A convict on the other hand has violated the laws of society. Any convict who can rehabilitate himself or herself deserves a second chance. The truth though is that our prison system does a wonderful job of turning people into hard core lifetime criminals. And it costs us a fortune.

I think that businesses should hire this population. These are not the people that would hit their snooze button and go back to sleep. Why not? Because then they would have to explain to their big, usually cranky parole/probation officer why they are not working. Did I mention that if they are not working it is a parole violation? That is some good incentive to go to work.

Give them a shot. especially the just homeless. Sometimes they are homeless by circumstances beyond their control. However, if they abuse the system, kick them loose.

more companies should give that chance...even felonies should come off the record after 5 years! Otherwise their lives are ruined.!
