Back during hurricane season in 2005 we put duck tape on all of our windows, and just recently we found that we forgot to take it off one windw. We tried taking it off but cant get it off or it leaves some it there. how can i get the duck tape off the window without breaking or leaving residue on the window?

Everyone seems to have said the same thing with the WD-40 and a razor blade. I see a problem. The goo is going to stick to the razor blade and be a big headache...They do make adhesive remover. It's like stripper for paint only you use it on adhesive. Excellent stuff...The problem with this stuff is that it is $20 a gallon (the only way to buy it) and it's very caustic that if you have vinyl windows, it might damage them.
That goo gone is ok, but it never seems to work very well. I think I'd try the WD-40 and a razor blade scraper if you have vinyl windows but set aside plenty of time to work on it and a lot of patience stored away because it will not be at all easy or pleasant to do. And if you have wood wondow frames, I'd fork out the $20 at Home Depot and go with that.

If you have some paint thinner and lauquer thinner around the house, I'd take a peice of duct tape and pour some on the backing and see if it desinigrates. If it does, use that chemical to clean up your windows. You could probably go to a paint store and ask them to help you by pouring them on before you buy the chemical to make sure you buy the right one. Just an idea, I don't know what kind of time you want to spend on it. But getting the right product and tools for the job take less time than trying to do it without those things!

Use Liquid Wrench it is available everywhere and removes the most stubborn of adhesives. Simply spray each window (tape or residue) then once all are finished take a putty knife and starting at the first window start scraping. It should pretty much curl away then after all is said and done clean with Windex or other cleaner degreaser suitable for glass. Good Luck!

First, try scraping it off with a razor. This should take off the majority of the tape. Then, use bug and tar remover, or sticker remover to get the rest off. You can also use Goo Be Gone.
Any of these products should do the trick.
Good luck.

Duck brand Adhesive Remover is a heavy-duty adhesive residue removal solution. Removes Duck Tape, masking tape, carpet tape, weatherstripping tape, mounting tape, labels stickers, tar, gum, caulk and more. Our remover is safe to use on all types of hard surfaces including: walls, floors, doors, furniture, cars, metal, plastic, glass and wood. Always test solvents on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it won’t damage the surface. Our sponge applicator makes it easy to use with precise application. There is a convenient built-in scraper tool attached: no need for additional tools. Fresh citrus scent in an easy to handle bottle. Not recommended for fine fabrics and furniture, or absorbent surfaces.

A "home remedy" we recommend is WD-40. This petroleum-based lubricant is excellent for removing adhesives. Rubbing alcohol also works for removing light adhesives, but evaporates quickly. Remember to test these products before applying on a large scale. For more information on Duck brand Adhesive Remover, call (800) 321-0253

WD-40 and a razor blade. Spray the glue residue with the WD-40 and let it soak a bit then scrape it off with the blade.

Windex is a very good adhesive remover, spray on, let set, then spray on again. Use a razor blade, but be sure to only go in one direction, wipe off the blade between each pass or you will scratch the glass

Use a little oil. You can try mazola/corn oil or even butter. Just spread it on the area you want off, let it sit for a minute and then wipe away all the residue
