Hello,
I think you are wrong about Psychology, in the sense that your conclusions are wrong. I dont know what happened to you, to bring you to those conclusions. I've studied Humanistic psychology for several years and trained as a counsellor & Riechian Therapist.
Carl Jung was a very great swiss psychologist, he formulated an entire psychology about the soul and the spirit and the unconsicous and the collective unconsicous. His entire lifes work was about the spirit, Jung always talked about the spirit and the unconscious as if they were & are completely real & matter of fact parts of human exsistence.
**If anything it was Jung who was shot down in flames for his new ideas about spirituality and the connection with the human psychie.
**Anyway, the theories & academic studies of psychology are all very fine and good but what matters most is your real life experience NOT some psychological idea of how life should or could be.
What matters is your experience of life & your relationships, your spiritual self and so forth. Even psychology doesnt have all the answers you know. Nobody should be telling you otherwise.
**Its vital in my opinion to formulate your own psychology or life philosophy but based upon your own experiences, NOT what you might have read in a book somewhere. Books are fine but they are someone else's ideas & theories.
**Sometimes in life you have to trust in yourself and form your own ideas & conclusions.

You're trying to get psychology on a very nit-pickey point. It's an old term back from when people actually did attribute psychological disorders to spirits or souls. The study of personality and the mind evolved slowly over time, and just happened to keep the name it started with.
But you're right, psychology isn't perfect and shouldn't be trusted at all times. Psycholigists and medications can be helpful for certian diseases (do you deny that a schizophrenic or bipolar shouldn't be given stabilizing meds?) but it is developing a tendancy to classify every personality quirk as a disorder. While a diagnoses along these lines may be perfectly true, it might not always merit the type of treatment that psychologists are apt to perscribe.

It's worthwhile to practice psychology because it is not a "pseudo science." I suggest you read up about the scientific method and how it applies to psychology.
Some psychology theories are not validated with science and are thus not viewed as worthwhile by the mainstream psychology crowd. Jung and Freud, for example, are not considered worthwhile but many false psychologists still apply their theories in treatment for patients. These are probably the ones that have been giving you problems.

Organized delusion? Someone needs to pretend they know what's wrong or what's right. Maybe the person you think you're seeing isn't real anyway. At least you won't get a bill from them. Those doctors bills are usually real though. Psychology might have more plausible theories than some drug dealer or Evangelist......it's your choice though.Personalities, souls, spirits or whatever.

Hopefully mental health counseling has evolved since your experience. Now, there is more of a focus on life skills, and less on sitting around pondering your thoughts and dreams.

Well - if this little rant you posted is suppose to prove that psychology almost destroyed you - I am not sure you are quite repaired from that damage yet.
Good Luck!!!

because certain of it's theories have practically been proven through mri scans and neurology and neurochemistry, ect. it helps some people, you just need people who practice it well. and yes, even some of freuds theories have been proved, like his theory on hysteria and the one on trauma repression.
