paintball's a really expensive sport. $170 wont get you too far, but its a start.

you can check out this one, its semi-auto, reliable, and wont waste a lot of money:

this is good for the beginner that wants a better gun than the first one:

This is the gun i would recommend for all beginners. it's $30 over your price range, its basically the low priced professional gun; reliable and air efficient you should check it out:

Tippman 98 Custom. It's a very inexpensive gun around the price range you want and if you decide to get crazy with it you can fully upgrade it later on with an expansion chamber, a flat-line barrell (highly recommended), R/T trigger, or a Nitro system upgrade (also highly recommended). Of course the upgrades will hurt your wallet unless you shop around but the gun itself can be found for under $200 without breaking a sweat!

for woods ball the tippman 98 is good but that is not a gun you should get. save your money and get a proto rail. it is a very good speedball gun. if you have a total of 40 bucks a month to play then dont start it is very expensive. dont get half way through and then realize u cant afford it. you will get nothing good for 170 bucks

go to a sporting goods store if you really just are fooling around when u are playing because they have respectable paint ball guns for decent prices.
