A "friend" is telling others that I have been sleeping around (having affairs because I am married)

He/She is obviously not a friend of yours. And I would simply cut them loose. I would have nothing more to say to them or about them. Leave their miserable behind alone. And don't even bother addressing the rumors, they are rumors don't feed fuel to the fire and they will die. Good luck and God bless****

ummm for 1 that's not a friend cuz a friend wouldn't do that to another unless she is jealous and not a friend at all. There has got to be a reason she is doing this and if you want to be friends with her then talk to her ask her why she is doing that and put her on the spot bring the person(s) that she told these things to just in case she denys it.I honestly think that u should keep on being friends with her cuz even if she is mad or whatever that could have broken up your marriage which might be what she wants.I would just confront her and do it in front of others that she told and make her tell the truth and then leave her never talk to her again u don't need people like that in your life.If she has done that could u imagine what else she is capable of if she gets ticked off.anyway hope it all works out and good luck .Have a great x-mas and a happier new yr.bye 4 now.

I would face her directly. Ask her why she is being so ugly. If you want to get an answer I would ask. She obviously is not a friend anyway. And the mean side of me says to get her back by doing something to her. I just hate people like her. My sister's neighbor was that way and finally all the other women confronted her about the lies she spread, none of them hang out with her. Turns out she was spreading rumors about everyone!

Not much of a FRIEND there now is she????? Usually people that spread rumors about others are DOING something THEY shouldn't be doing and want to get away from the attention, and get that attention directed in another direction. I would definiely end the so-called friendship

Arghhh... I hate that! You just gotta confront her. It's hard I know, but you must. And then you must insist she tell everyone she told that she is sorry. And you make sure she knows that you will follow up on it. You can approach her in a gentle way at first and tell her this is hard for you but your reputaion means this much to you. (If you don't nip this is the bud, then it will not stop. It may continnue with her or later someone else. Let others know you will not tolerate this.)

Well 1st of all, I wouldn't refer to him/her as a friend because a true friend wouldn't spread rumors about another friend. He/she is more of an acquaintance. So i suggest you confront him/her and tell them to stop. And if they do he/she is a true friend, and if he/she doesn't leave them alone.

The ONLY way to address this is to confront her. Ideally this should be done IN FRONT of the person(s) she told this to. That way, she can't say "No I did not say that!" If, in fact, she did not say that, then the other person will back down ("maybe I misunderstood you...?).

Not acceptable behavior. Hit it head on or it will continue.

They aren't a friend if they spread rumors about you.
