don't see why not, mines been broken for years, and i still drive around. i just use the rpm guage and what gear i'm in, then i know how fast i'm going. just don't try to use it as an excuse when you get caught speeding.they don't need to know it doesn't work

If you can drive by "seat of the pants" driving... Meaning someone good at estimating their speed won't need a speedometer.
Some newer Ford vehicles will not run right with a broken speedometer, because the computer requires the speedometer to work for the computer to properly calculate other functions.
Cars up to ten years in age in most places will be considered fraud if it is not indicated discrepancy with the actual mileage from a broken speedometer when they are sold.

It depends on how good you really are. My speedo broke on my old car. It was one that couldn't be repaired, only replaced, and I wasn't about to spend the money that entailed. I drove 2 years that way, but I have been driving so long I don't use the speedometer much anyway, I can guage my speed pretty closely even without other traffic around me. So, if you are confident you know how fast you are going, and have many years of experience, drive. But have a buddy in another vehicle check you first to see how close your estimates are. If you aren't really close, get the thing fixed before your drive again. The cost will be cheaper than the speeding tickets.

I don't see why not but you will have to be careful about speeding. Cameras may catch you.
I have done this myself because I drive for a living and some of the vehicles I drove were a bit like me-past their best.. I think it is a traffic offence so you do need to be aware of this.
On reflection I would ask-what would happen if an accident occurred and someone was hurt? Could you forgive yourself? So my revised answer is no-it would be better not to drive with your speedo broken.

If the vehicle is capable of going faster than 30mph you are breaking the law if you use it without a speedometer.
Saying that how can you tell if it's broken.
I once drove a lorry that wouldn't go above 60mph according to the speedo but I was reliably informed by someone following that I was actually doing 80mph. :o)
He let me off with a warning luckilly.

It is not against the law to drive without a speedo , however it is not an excuse if you exceed the speed limit,

your speedometer must be in working order. you should not drive, but when you get pulled over for speeding, it could turn into a reckless driving charge

This is a regional type q/a .
In the US it is not illegal to drive without a speed indicating device. In other places it is illegal----ask local law enforcement this question . We don't want you in trouble.

i've done some naughty things. drove with a broke shock absorber for weeks. drove with 3 nuts instead of 5 attached to my wheel. As long as you know within yourself. it's not a prob. especially if you drove for a few years..you get use to doin 30's(everyone does 36ish anyway).
as long as your needle aint fell off, the police cant tell it's buggered as it wouldn't be giving a reading when stationary!!!
