im in 11th grade and i just turned 17. so an 11th grader generally starts the year at 16 and finishes it at 17 (or turns 17 shortly after depending on month of birth)

I am in the 12th grade. Last year i began the school year when i was 16 and turned 17 right before summer. The youngest person in my class turned 17 in late summer.
