There's the new Convention Center they put up alongside the Expressway just a few blocks from the strip. It's huge.
Then there's the hotels on the strip. All 17,589 of them. This time of the year, it probably won't be real hard at all to find somewhere.
Memorial Day - Labor Day a lot of places might be booked so plan accordingly.
There's not much else in the Greater VB area where you could really have receptions. The rest of the city is pretty much a suburban setting with neighborhoods, schools, strip malls, etc. Then there's a few military bases and a bay that no one ever really goes to...
So yeah, your best bet for a reception is the tacky strip.

if you have got the cash, get a reception room at one of the hotel's at the strip. they are between $2000 and $8000 minimum though. holiday inn on 39th has one on the 7th floor that overlooks the ocean, very pretty. if on a tighter budget, try one of the a banquet hall that belongs to a group or club, for example the phillipino cultural center or one of the shriners lodges.
