It got revealed that Nifong held back DNA evidence showing the stripper had been with several men, but none of them the Duke students who voluntarily waived their rights and gave DNA samples to the DA. Now it turns out that the stripper has given several different accounts of what happened that night, and is not sure intercourse occured.(HINT: You can not charge someone with rape if there is no intercourse). So you have a gold digger dancer who hoped to file a civil suit against the players, and a publicity hungry DA who ignored(refused to interview) credible alibi witness testimony and instead charged these young men with rape and kidnapping. These young men who went to college to better themselves are now screwed. With rape and kidnapping charges on their records, who will hire them. Also, the next time a woman legitimently gets raped, people will be skeptical because of this, so women lose too. Opinions? Suggestions and email addresses of who to complain to about this appreciated.

Yes! Those Duke players were NOT guilty as it turned out, but everyone still thinks they were-all because of this DA, who withholds evidence and just wants a conviction under his belt. The reputation of D the lacrosse team, the entire Duke University, and those three INNOCENT players is tarnished, and the three intelligent young men now have their futures ruined and their families shamed. That stripper's nothing but a gold-digging ho and the DA just wants publicity.

Should he be disbarred? No. I don't believe so. IMHO, he just happened to do publicly what others have done privately when their cases have not been so high profile. He should, however, be replaced as District Attorney. One of the other answers asked whether or not he did it because the people who elected him demanded he do it. I say absolutely not. Most of the events in this case came before his re-election campaign. He did it because he wanted to win votes.. or at least not lose any. He had to do whatever was necessary to cover up that he had insisted on prosecuting what had always been a weak, if not non-existent case. He also couldn't change his mind and drop charges before the election for fear of being seen as incompetent or wishy-washy. What really burned my biscuits so to speak is the fact when some of the non-accused team members refused to testify or whatever, he went and bring them up on old charges against them that could have remained on the shelf. It was really minor stuff, which to be honest I don't recall the specifics of. It was petty and it was vindictive.

Did he do it for himself or because the people that elected him demanded that he do it? The District Attorney is elected by the people and is supposed to represent their interests. Did he really have a choice in the matter of charging them? That said, his decision about withholding the DNA evidence from the defense is something that the people should keep in mind for the next election.

Nifong charged thees guys before he had evidence to support any charges, and he now can neither find it in himself to drop the charges nor to apologize for defaming these young men.
Simply disbarring him isn't enough. Once he has been disbarred, he needs to have the proverbial book thrown at him.

This one is driving me nuts, Nifong is an idiot and I would like to see him disbarred also. Methinks he was picked on by some Lacrosse players back in high school and is trying to get revenge. Don't worry, the kids will walk. That case is in the toilet, I hope.

He should be removed as DA. He ruined those boys lives the rape charges are obviously false. She's got everybody's sperm inside her except her boyfriend's. It also didn't match any of the duke players.

i don't sense, i think of. i think of Nifong shouldn't basically be diisbarred, he could be prosecuted himself. If there at the instant are not any regulations against what he has carried out, it shows how criminal professional/legislators, criminal professional/judges, criminal professional politicians, and legal professionals have unethically rigged the gadget to maintain themselves from being held in charge.

I think he ought to be disbarred. Lawyers have a bad reputation as it is. He is bringing it to lower depths. I can't believe the people voted him back into office.

I think that any public elected official who puts his own political agenda ( hence, gain in the black voter polls) in front of the people and morals should be imprisoned and sodomized.
