does anyone know the movie title of a kid who plays a video game and thinks he kills someone and finds a head?

I think that was "Brainscan" with Eddie Furlong (from Terminator 2) where he gets a hold of a game prototype about playing a serier murderer. There's a pychotic AI program that makes him think he kills people (including his best friend) and then he has to try and save the girl next door (that he has a crush on) before the AI makes him kill her too. In the end it looks like it was all just part of the game, but (if I remember correctly) there's a dog with a foot from the first victim that shows up just before the credits roll.
