This criminal company changed our meter and we had £235 credit on it. Have we got our money back yet? NO we are under investigation because we had quite alot of credit , are people not allowed to save anymore without being treated like criminals.

Did the USWITCH thing 18 months ago. Gotta say, it has saved me money. British Gas are a bunch of complete rip-off merchants. Saw the advert tonight for their boiler "Homecare" service. What a lie. Have seen 'WatchDog'. Wouldn't touch BG with a barge pole.

they are trying to charge me £10 a week on my meter.
i dont ever use that much as i live by myself in a 1bedroomed flat and i am not in most of the time.

i usually use 30p-40p a day maxium and suddenly the meter is going down by over £1 a day. i rang up and they said it was because my meter hadnt been changed for 3 years so i owe £113.

i explained that i am currently unemployed and i only get £80 a fortnight and that i cant afford to put that much credit on my meter with my other bills to pay. they said it was tough and i have to pay it back anyway. i havent even lived in that flat 3 years.

i emailed them and they ignored it.
i really dont know what i should do now.

the biggest rip off is the meter charge, we the consumer. has to pay for the gas/ electric, they the suppliers, have to know how much to charge us, so they stick a meter in our homes. and charge us for the privilege. i think we should be charging them for the rental, how else they gonna know how much we use, except for there bloody meter. so whats the charge for ? also i got another gripe, why should pre paid card meters, pay a higher rate than quarterly payers, they pay up front for there gas/elec, and get charged extra for it,, its all a big con, no matter what company you are with, scottish power is the worse,, thats an other story

I wouldn't use British Gas if they were the last supplier around!

That fact I haven't got a gas supply has nothing to do with it :o)

I've had experience of those rip off merchants in my previous house and wouldn't use them again.

Yep I agree! When I moved house I transfered my EDF account to my new address, but British Gas refused to let the account go and charged us a fortune for electricity. We got so fed up we ditched both British Gas and EDF!

I don't have gas in my home, cos I prefer paying just the one bill (electric) for all my needs. The option for gas is there, but when you read about how they rip you off, it hardly seems worth it.

I see that BG are now going to charge late bill-payers £5 for their reminder letters from March next year.

they're ripping actual all people off, in basic terms like all of the gas and oil agencies around the area are ripping their shoppers off. they're making record income and that they shop on increasing costs...
