The loss of the mucus plug and the diarrhea are both signs of labor. Since you are having bad cramps every now and then along with the diarrhea, I would watch out for other signs. And if you start feeling like you have to push when you go potty, DON'T. At that point you need to go to the hospital.
Congrats. The same thing happened to me 26 years ago and I kept sitting around complaining that I was uncomfortable, and when I finally went into the hospital Christmas morning, my daughter was born 45 minutes later.

congradulations on your pregnancy! i just had my baby november the 18. i have heard from doulas and midwives that this is not always a sign of labor and that in some cases, the plug is lost gradualy throughout pregnancy or all at once. In my case, i went into labor the same day. it just depends on the pregancy. since you mentioned back pain you might be having back labor. My contractions felt like the worst cramps that i have ever had. Start timeing the time between your contractions. they will get closer and closer. when they get about 5 minutes apart go to the hospital triage.

I don't have much experience with pre-labor (both of mine were born within 2 hours for the first and 4 hours for the second....hope yours is just as quick!) anyway you sound very close to me, have a nice warm bath, double check the stuff in your bag and try and have a sleep. The back pain and cramps are more than likely mild contractions. Good luck xx

Have you called your doctor and told him/her that you lost your mucus plug? If not, I think you should definitely do that. I think labor may be close for you, but sometimes it can still take awhile. When you do have contractions, I would DEFINITELY TIME AND COUNT THEM. I also have diarrhea and back pain, but yesterday my doctor said I'm not dialated or effaced yet. But since you lost your mucus plug, you need to keep a close eye on everything your body does. Goodluck and hopefully you get to hold your baby soon.

Congrats, I am 36 1/2 weeks and lost mine Wednesday, I am at 5 cm and 75% effaced but still no baby. I know a lot of people loose theirs and hold out for awhile while some go right away. I hope you get your baby soon, mine is stubborn

It sounds like you're in pre-labor. It can last a couple days and can take place hours, days, or even weeks before you actually go into labor. You might notice belching, your "nesting instinct" kicking in, and so on. Try to take it easy-- don't try to scrub the house from top to bottom all by yourself! It's definitely a good sign what you're feeling right now!

Yes, it's usually a sign of early labour. Inform the hospital that you lost your mucous plug and ask for instructions. Also start timing contractions. Your back pain and cramps might be mild contractions.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Maybe Christmas baby?!?!?!
