I know what you mean the reason this Nation even started is because of christians back then in then in the mid to late 1700's you couldnt even call yourself an american if you wernt christian and now people dont want to "affend" other people by taking Christ out of everything Personally that is affending me!

recently alot of problems have risen concerning religion in the US.
by law America can make no law respecting any establishment of religion.
so for people who don't celebrate or whatever they write happy holidays to be a far from racial.
recently a Jewish person i believe sued an airport or someplace for putting a Christmas tree alone while Hanukkah falls around the same time
you have to understand that some people aren't christian and very particular about the promotion of a religion they aren't affiliated with...
also stores aren't private property so...welll the law has become very particular nowadays
i am a non-christian and we still put up a christmas tree and lights on our house and hav a christmas party every year. i find that it is a part of the assimmilation process....also i respect all religions. but i don't have a problem with whether you say merry christmas or happy holidays to me
but really this year it has kind of gone overboard...its like all of a sudden watch what you say for fear of offending someone even though you only mean well
well merry christmas to you all the same because now i know that you do celebrate christmas but please don't be offended if someone says happy holidays...nobody is trying to erase christ and goodness they can't change the word christmas. look for christ in your soul....words are only words.....the lord should be in your soul and if the lord is in your soul then look upon others with
love and compassion.
didn't jesus himself say after all that if someone takes your hat (was it hat?) give him your coat as well...whatever you get the point right?
just know that nobody is trying to remove christ but only acknowledge that many different religions exist....
so you have a wonderful christmas may your days be filled with happiness and say a little prayer for the world this year as that is what would please the lord most.
:)

I don't care which one it is.
There's a saying this time of year ------------>>> It's the thought that counts.
If someone says Happy Chanakuh, Happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas or something else, what's the difference? In my mind, I make the substitution and that is all that I need to do.... THE THOUGHT BEHIND IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING.
Or have I had it wrong all these years and there are really different levels of holiday cheer depending on your preference? I'll have to remember that next year.

Because there is so many different religions out there. Many do not celebrate "Christmas" but have holidays around the same time. Since stores are all about selling things, they are trying to appeal to the widest audience.
This country was built on freedom of religious beliefs. Maybe everyone is trying to make everyone feel the "spirit" of the season. Love thy neighbor etc...in showing tolerence and compassion and acceptance. Isn't that what it is all about?
Peace.

i think that many stores have decided to take Christ out of christmas because the U.S is a religious melting pot. So many people practice other religions here in the U.S . Saying Happy Holidays is an easy way to address or greet those who do not celebrate CHRISTmas.
