I'm making a CD for somebody for the holidays... And I wanted to rubber cement a piece of paper to the front of the CD (with the tracklist, album art, etc.). I wasn't sure if the rubber cement would damage the CD, though.

Does anybody know if it will?

While pre-cut CD labels are best, preferably with a CD Stomper, there are a couple of alternatives you could use.
One is if you have sticker sheets ... use that, but you have to be careful putting it on.

Or .. use the paste type glue sticks, like you use in an office or in school ... they dont damage the CD's, and I have not had them come unglued, even over 5-6 years. Be careful not to get glue on the read side of the CD!

the acid from the rubber cement will damage the CD. i would recommend using an old CD case, take out all the paper and slide the info. into the front of the case

YES it will demage it. I would really recommend using an old CD case, take out all the paper and slide the info. into the front of the case, not only that you will also find that you can pull the back of some (album) cd cases apart & you could also stick any info you have in there to.

Not sure if it will damage the CD, but it will likely come unglued eventually and damage the CD player (especially in a car or computer).

I use pre-cut CD labels and a label "stomper". Very inexpensive, and made for what you're trying to do.
