Funny, he wouldn't have taken it some years ago but since he's been "In bed with Blair" it is a reasonable payoff I suppose. Bob Geldoff paved the way for Irish men to accept an honorary knighthood so who is Paul Heuson to argue. He will be KBE like Bob and wasnt it John Paul Getty got one the same time as Bob, for donations to art galleries

And why not!? At least we now have a good looking Sir. Step up from Cliff Richard I think.
And U2 know what they're doing with music. Bet Her Majesty gives him the honour and thinks to herself "Who the hell was that? And where can One get sunglasses like that?"
(PS To everyone who said Bono should put in some of his own money to aid poverty... Erm, he does. Look at the cover of any recent U2 album. He's not stupid enough to preach at others without doing something himself!)

I hate to be pedantic ( actually I love it if I'm being honest) but Bono has got an Honorary Knighthood, which isn't the same thing at all, at all. He is NOT entitled to be called Sir. It is customary for the knighthood to be presented by the foreign ambassador for the candidate's country rather than being bestowed the honour by Her august Majesty.

Can;t stand the guy... materialistic and self-obsessed.. always ranting on about Africa whilst he still continues to rake in the millions.. what a hypocrite. Thank god it's only an honorary Knighthood and he won't be able to use the official title "Sir"....

so now you get "honorary" knighthoods for being sanctimonious loud mouthed and in a shite band (noel and Liam's must be in the post) one things for sure though he will always be a w@nker to me could only have been worse if sting got one

he's done nothing creditable to deserve it. plus this is the man who alongside bob geldof kept urging us to give them money when they have given jack-all to the african people. the guy's a hypocrite
