Actually at any time. If a person who is mentally ill gets the vote then they are in. The constitution just says 35 years old and natural citizen, says nothing about mental status. The question is would the American people vote for such a person?

We have elected mentally ill presidents, in 1976, 1992, and 1996.

We have on more than one occassion, Grant suffered from Alcoholism, a mental illness, Lincoln suffered from depression, Nixon depression, as well as paranoia, and you notice I haven't mentioned yet Bush's addictive personality disorder! The majority of presidents are narrastic if not when they take office before they leave they display those tendencies

Well,

one could argue that Clinton's women issues were a mental illness, just as one could argue for Bush being mentally ill. If you asking when it will be acceptable to elect an openly mentally ill president, well, I just don't know that. ;)

We already have. His name is George W. Bush. Doubts? He claims he talks to God every day and that God ANSWERS BACK!! That's a sure sign of mental illness. If you're carrying on a conversation with someone you can't see and who isn't there - you are one sick puppy.

As a historian, I can tell you, sarcasm aside, that we already have. President Lincoln suffered from Depression, which he called 'hypo' or "menlancholy". Of course, several other presidents have probably also had 'issues', of varying degrees.

Carter was out of his league. He should have been working in a factory, or at some menial job.
Clinton was a sociopath and a pathological liar, who didn't care about anyone but himself.

(But when it came to politics, Clinton was the most cunning and smartest of all.)
Actually, Hillary was the cunning one. She ran everything.

Anyone who isn't a Democrat is mentally ill!!!!!!!!!!

When I become SUPREME QUEEN OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!! I will outlaw all political parties but Democrats...since we're the only ones who are compassionate, freethinking, and know anything about running this country!!!!!!!

I'm Nancy Pelosi, and I approve this message!!
