Hi Drama

Echinacea builds up the immune system very effectively. Not sure how your taking it (pill or liquid), but I would recommend liquid because it gets in the blood quickly and very effective. If I am feeling weak or starting to get sick I would take a few droppersful every hour. Unlike medication herbs are safe. The worst case scenio is you throw up if you take too much. Here are a few sites that I like their echinacea.

Best of health to you

Unfortunately, the study done to disprove echinacea was done by the Big Pharmco. The dosage was so low, they got the results they wanted.
Don't believe everything you read or see on the news.
It works for most people.
I use an echinacea tincture, 2 droppers a day for one week on, one week off.
Talk to someone at a reputable health food store. They will give you the info you need.

None. Several university studies have shown that it is completely ineffective in preventing upper respiratory disease or shortening its duration. Save your money. In fact, echinacea can have adverse effects in the presence of lupus, liver disease, or any autoimmune disorder. The only condition it has had beneficial results on is athlete's foot, when combined with usual athlete's foot antifungal treatment.

These studies were done by the University of Washington; the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville; Karl-Franzens-Universitaet, Graz, Austria; the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston; and Clemson University, Clemson, S.C., -- NOT the "Big Pharmco" as echinacea salespeople would like you to think!

I realize you'd like to believe there is actually a cure for the common cold, but I think if there was, whoever found it would be a millionaire multiple times over. It's just wishful thinking. Some people are just interested in selling you "snake oil" cures which at best won't work, and at worst will make you sick. Don't believe them! It doesn't work, and it's been proven not to work. If it seems to improve symptoms, it's simply a placebo effect. That's not worth the risk of liver damage.
