modeling agency?!?

i wanna be a model, but i live in illinos, and my parents don't wanna fly to california. help!

There are pleanty of modeling agencies in Illinois that you can sign up for.

Why don't you try to look for an agency at your end? Never ever go to these modelling angencies on your own cos it's not safe. Get recommendations and feedback from people who've been to these agencies... if no one has heard of it, then the chances are that they are fake. And remember that there is no such thing as a model having to pay an upfront fee to become a model... because if the agency is legit, they will pay for your training if they believe you have what it takes to be successful in the industry.

whatever you do just make sure you DO NOT sign up for one of those agencies that make you pay all this money for classes and pictures with promises of becoming a model. i did that once and they said that they had all these girls who became models from them so i paid over 5 thousand total and never once got a go see or anything. now i promote myself, i dunno how old you are, im 20 but i use ModelMayhem.com. if you are really young, like under 17, i would just be really really careful about it since it is over the internet. never EVER go to a shoot or meeting alone, no matter what. I always bring either my boyfriend or a friend with me and if you feel uncomfortable at any point you always have the right to leave. just use your judgement. get your portfolio started, headshots, black and whites are really good. nothing too crazy just simple really. always be professional and you will be treated professionally. if you have anymore questions you can always ask me! ive been doing this for 5 years and it is a very hard long process. just be prepared for ALOT of rejection, you will always get more no's than yes's.

You don't have to go to Cali or NY. There's alot of work in Illnois, so get your feet wet first before you dive into the swimming pool.
