actually read the questions that are asked? I don't think it is that many when it comes to the Harry Potter stuff, because if they did read some of the questions and the answers they wouldn't keep asking the same dumb questions that have been listed for the last year. True or False?

In rebuttal there are several HP questions on every page of the general questions. What is so hard to read?

I agree with you for the most part. It wouldn't even take much effort really. For all these Harry Potter questions especially. All you'd have to do is look over the past twelve to twenty-four hours. It might take all of ten minutes. Or if that's too much work, type "Harry Potter" in an advanced search (maybe that's the problem, people don't know that's an option) and within a matter of seconds...all the answers you'd ever care to read. I don't expect people to know what has and hasn't been asked for a full year...or even a full week. But it would be nice if they'd at least look at the past twelve hours or so.

I agree with you. I personally read questions, but I doubt many people do, because you are always seeing the same questions being posted over and over. It gets monotonous. Many people are lazy and most don't care about the problems and questions of others.

Dear Wally: The querents are new persons who indeed have not read the questions. The questions go off into time out of mind. Be charitable. Answer the questions as knowledgeably as you can and be assured that you have done a good deed.

I think the problem is that a lot of the people here aren't as used to other boards, and that this site doesn't have as active of a moderating team as some (if it does have one at all). If you can post it yourself, that's often much easier than searching years worth of boards. Though it does get annoying reading the same questions over and over...

For some strange reason, people do seem to prefer to just ask the question themselves rather than search to see if the question has been asked before.

When you type your question, Y!A comes up with similar questions right underneath yours. So why can't people just look at those questions and answers instead?
The only thing I can think of is that they don't look or they're just asking to get points.
