I went to check on my hermit crabs and I saw that one of my hermit crabs shells were empty I looked in the hut and lying there was the hermit crab. I panicked but I knew to clean the shell out just maybe it was irritating it. Then I poured luke warm water over it then nothing has happened after any of the attempts to coaxing the hermit crab back into the shell.

Go to the pet store and get a few shells that are a little bigger than the one he just came out of. Put them in and let him pick which one he wants. He's hiding in the hut because he has no protection and he knows it. Give him a bigger house and he'll be fine. Good luck!!

I hate to say it, but I think that if your hermit is just lying there outside of its shell, it is probably dead or very near death. I think that it would still be moving around trying to find another shell if it was alive.
