i just bought a 07 jetta with leatherette and i want to put a protectant on it and also does anyone know what leatherette is made out of?

thats is man made leather, its not an animal skin, call Jetta the dealer and they will sell a spray , it probably has scotchguard on it already.

leatherette can be anything - generally speaking it is a form of vinyl with a leather look in the grain. Two things work well as long as you don't over use. one is Armour All, the other is vinyl protector found in waterbed stores for use on waterbed mattresses. I think Walmart sells both. I have real leather and use the Armour All wipes for leather

One product is called Armor All and another is called Son-of-a-Gun (there are others available). Most contain a silicone, so be very careful that you don't slide off your seat after using it.
