I have never understood what they mean because I have gone down a letter, but up a number. Is that better or would it be better to go up a letter and down a number?

Most girls think it's better to go down in numbers (the band size) and up in letters (the cup size)...but it's all relative..

The number is your chest circumference. You get this number by measuring around your chest right below your breasts and then adding five.

The letter is your cup size. You get this number by measuring around the fullest part of your breast, and then subtracting the number you got for the band size from the number you get. Then convert it to a letter. 1=A, 2=B, etc. Once you get past D, it gets a little weird because not all brands run the same way. For example, I wear a DDD in some brands, or an F in others.

For example, If you measure your chest at 31 inches, you'd add 5 to get a 36 band size. Then you measure your bust at 38 inches. So subtract 36 from 38. 2 inches = B cup, so your size would be 36B.

There's no "better" or "worse" measurement. Every body is different and they're all beautiful!

The number is how many inches you are around the rib cage. The letter is the size of cup you are. So if you went down a letter and up a number means you have probably gained a bit of weight and lost some weight in your breats. I've never heard of someone going down in cup and up in weight though, normally you go up in both or down in number and stay the same in the letter.

i hope this helped :)

The NUMBER part is the measurement in inches around your body, from your back to underneath your breast (where the bottom part of the bra goes) and the the LETTER part is the size of your breast (aka the cup size).... A lot of people think, "the larger the number, the bigger the breast", when it actually means your just bigger around. It's the cup size that tells how big your breast are

The numbers are the inches around your ribcage just under the breasts plus 1 inch. The letters are the difference in inches between measuring under the breasts and the breasts. So if you are 34 inches around ribcage and 36 around the breasts you are 34a but if you are 38 then you are 34b, etc.
You want the letters to go up, not the numbers.
FYI: BUY A BRA THAT FITS RIGHT ON THE LOOSEST HOOKS, THEN AS IT STRETCHES YOU CAN TIGHTEN IT AND IT WILL LAST LONGER.

Depends on what you want, either can be ok, it's what you are. The letters are the cup size, how big your chest is, the number is the measurement that goes around, like a waist size.
Hope that helps, it's hard to explain.

The number is the circumference in inches of the area around the fullest part of your chest. The letters are just to differeniate between the actual size of breast. AA being smallest, then A, then B, then C and so on. After having to shop and buy a few years, it got easier to understand.

Letter is the cup size. The part your breast falls into. The number is the bra size, which is the number that fit's around where you snap the bra together.

I hope that makes sense.
