how do i access the internet at work with my notebook computer?

I have a compaq,presario,v6000.Norton antivirus 2007.Windows XP. I have the same computer to access the internet before, but now I cannot.

run the connection wizard

basically all laptops have wifi cards so this should work
right click on on the little icon that looks like a computer with waves radiating from it (bottom right on the toolbar)
click on view available networks
and connect to one
