I'm not that kind of Italian, Why do people think that? My family in italy are cops, and hard workers. Why do people say "Oh your Italian?" Then treat me like I'm a thug when all I do is work hard to make a better life for myself. I forget them, but its getting annoying. Why do peopel think this way?

I think it is a stereotype that has been perpetuated over the last few decades. Most of what you hear about in the media about Italians has to do with organized crime or shows like the Sopranos. I live in a town that is mostly Italian and I know that this stereotype is wrong and most people are just working hard to help the community and provide a good life for their family. Don't get discouraged, by seeing that someone Italian like yourself goes against this stereotype, you can help change people's prejudices and opinions

I'm Italian as well and I always get that stereotype. It's just what people automatically assume I guess. They think I have an Uncle Guido and all the usual medieval assumptions that go along with it. I've learned to just take it lightly and let it roll of my shoulders. Now I'm really just humored by it.

Because all Italians are mob. If a Italian opens a petting zoo in our country, I'm sure it will be an evil petting zoo!(jj) Screw all those fools who have an make-believe attitude with you. 'Forgetabotit'.

people are dumb just like they think all black people are criminals or drug dealers. It only take a small fraction of people to make a whole culture of people be stereotyped. I mainly blame mafia movies.

Well.... I guess it is better to be safe than sorry. Some of us have known some people that were, and may become more cautious as the result.
