well i am in 7th grade and i had the same problem. i was tired of glasses, and i thought they were geeky! so my mom allowed me to TRY contacts. and i did and they work out fine. so i think contacts COULD be an option. so let your daughter TRY them and if they dont work out then try getting a different glasses frame that maybe she'd like, or that was more in style. it would be a great opportunity!

I wear both: contacts to work, and glasses at home. There are certain days in which I cannot put my contacts in my eyes because my eyes are dry and burning due to lack of sleep, allergies, etc. So on those occasions, I am grateful to have a current lens prescription in my frames. Maybe if your daughter thinks she looks "geeky", it's only a matter of finding some new cool frames? Whatever the case, be cautious about laser eye surgery because every now and then there are unsuccessful surgeries that leave the patient in a worse off condition... Below are some helpful URL's from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Vision Council of America.

Contacts are definitely helpful for the social life, but because they are expensive you want to be sure they are a comprable substitute for her glasses. Sometims contacts do not match the presciption for the eyes that glasses can.
Also be sure your daughter is not prone to losing things, and sleepin with conacts on is a no-no. All in all I say she should have them, specifically because we cannot undermine the importance of a young persons social life, and at the same time be sure she has glasses readily available for when she needs to take notes in classes at school. (Just in case her contacts arent as beneficial for that purpose.)

contacts can get scratchy and irritable. if your daughter is feeling very insecure and not very confident, maybe you should endulge her and get her some contacts. if she's just going through a phase and appearance is becoming a huge thing, leave the glasses and teach her a lesson because looks don't outweigh the finer things in life like education and health. that's just my opinion

If that your daughter is fine with touching her own eye, contacts should be fine for her to try. They recommend them for people ages 12 and up, so as long as she's old enough they let you make appointments at the eye doctor to see about contacts. Just don't let her be discouraged when the docotr puts it in her eye for her- it doesn't hurt half as much when you do it yourself!

yes i do but it depends on if she is comfortable in the contacts and make sure she is responsible enough to take care of them and to take them out at night and clean them or just get her a pair of cute designer glasses or glasses with a tint to make them look lke sun glasses or if she doesn't need them except for reading tell her to just not wear them when she wants to look cool.

Depends on her age, and whether or not her eyes are good candidates for contacts. You will probably get the best information by going to an optometrist. They live in the mall.
