why aren't women....?

Question

....as funny as men?

Now I have known a few women that were a RIOT. Married one of them. But on average men are funnier. Is it just male competitiveness, and we learn to be witty in self-defense? That we're more irreverant? What?

Feel free to slam me if you don't agree with the premise in the first place. Just make your response funny.

Actually, a lot of work has been done on the sense of humor, from an evolutionary perspective. Men compete for woman. One of the greatest indicators of intelligence, which both sexes prize, is the sense of humor. Rather an impossible task to count the times a man won fair damsel with a better sense of humor, but this is a working evolutionary hypothesis. Men want intelligence in their female partners, too, but not that much to the exclusion of youth and beauty. So, to show your brains in the best light to a female, you must make her laugh best.

I agree with you in some ways. There aren't as many very witty women as men. Few women can do the Ellen Degeneres thing, or whoever you're into. However, I think, for whatever reason, women are funny in a different way. I can't tell you how many times I've curled over in laughter, till my sides hurt, after hanging out with my female friends. But most men listening in would just be like "what are you talking about? that was a joke?"

Wasn't this an article in some magazine recently? It's kind of stupid, and I don't really feel like trying to be funny in order to prove you are wrong. I mean, you are making a wide generalization about 3 billion people. Of course you're wrong.

But, if you do need to be proven wrong: Tina Fey. Margaret Cho. Lucille Ball. Many stand-up comics I've seen over the years whose names I can't remember, of course. Lindsay Lohan, back in her _Mean Girls_ days. Amanda Bynes (shut up, she is funny). Samantha Bee. Jennifer Aniston. Mae West. My girl friends. Me, on occasion. Gah, this is getting boring. Maybe women's humor is different in some ways than men's, as there are different expectations for women, but some of us at least are funny.

Women love a guy with a great sense of humour, but few men appear to value this trait in women, they are way to consumed with the outer packaging, instead of what is going on inside.......humans only evolve as necessary to keep procreation going. Men have found that by having a good sense of humour, they can still land a good women even if they are unnattractive, but it doesn't work quite the same way for women.

If men valued women's personalities half as much as they valued their looks, maybe this issue wouldn't even be in question..........................

Even with the comedians the men are funnier than the women.

I am not into the vulgar type comedians but, even in them the men are more funny while the women get even more vulgar.

Reminds me of the time my husband and I were thinking of other names for condoms and I came up with c*** socks. Then we got on to the bit about how do you guys keep it warm down there and that went to a whole new demension.

hmmmm i have met some men that werent very funny no sense of humor at all
and i have met lots of women whom are hystrical
maybe men dont understand womens sense of humor

Because women are serious thinkers and think logical about things and don't think outside the box.There mothers teach them to be ladys and don't fart and belch out loud.Some are prudes.
