It means that both of you are not very bright people and forgot why you married each other in the first place. The one for one idea is about as smart as nuclear war. They launch a warhead and kill millions so the other guy does the same. Either way millions are dead.
Get help from a solid counseling service. Preferably Christian and if you two cannot do that, then you are still committing just as great a sin by staying married. Adultery is a sin, living in hate is a sin and not living as husband and wife is a sin.
Seek God's help through Christ because if you want your marriage to be healed, Jesus can bring that healing.

Marriage is not about competition. Your marriage should be based on mutual love and respect for each other, but more importantly TRUST!! If one partner cheats and then the other partner cheats as a payback it just means that you are both no good CHEATERS !! Making you both as bad as one another. You have no marriage and both should have stayed single. Cheating is wrong, it doesn't matter what the reason was.

I think you both need to go a marriage counselor, unless this is a open relationship and both are allowed to screw around on each other, then why not just double date with someone else and keep the score even.

cheating is never right for either party. One should let the other go, people cannot or shouldn't stay together if all they are going to do is cheat on each other.
