I have a laptop that was given to me from work. I am not the admin for Windows 2000 Pro. I loaded Windows XP on my D drive. Thus, I now have the option to boot up in Windows 2000 (on my C drive) or XP. However, I have no use for Windows 2000 and wish to remove it, but have no idea how.

Please help.

You can use Win XP to remove it from your system. Boot up on XP, then:
1. press - Pause to go to System Properties, open Advanced options, click over Configuration, press Edit, it will open Notepad with the OS listing. Remove, the one that mentions Windows 2000. Save and exit. Press Ok twice to close SysProperties.
2. Remove the Windows or WinNT directory that is on C drive.
3. Probably it could be safe to remove "c:\programm files" too.

Obtain a copy of an 2000 or XP disk, boot to the disk, and in the install program it gives you the option to delete the partition, make sure that you delete the 2000 partition and not the XP partition.

IF you feel like installing XP again, you can delete both partitions, format them as one ans install XP as the only operating system on the computer.

A 98 BOOT DISK WILL NOT WORK. IF you attempt to use one with the program "FDisk" It will not work, becuase it can only work with Fat16 and Fat32, where 2000 and XP tend to NTFS
