I have been tested 4 times in my life. 3 times by an psychologist and 1 time by my school( I had to be tested as a 150+ IQ was an entry requirement to my school). I currently have an IQ of 164 WAIS. I was tested with that scale as to gage my abilities compared to adults( apparently). IQ's above 170 are given based on two things. 1, a score on a test, and two, your intelligence based on the intelligence of others with extremely high IQ's.

I was tested back when the "gifted" programs in schools were extremely hard to come by and exclusive. There was 1 gifted class in all of the metropolitan DC area and gifted children were bussed there. I was nominated and got by all the testing until the IQ. The IQ cutoff was 140. I tested at 136. (Interestingly enough, I score MUCH higher using the online tests, so I tend to view them with suspicion.) My parents got the rejection letter with a promise that additional classes would become available for children at my level, but it was almost 20 years before they did. Both of my daughters were accepted into the gifted programs when they were younger, but no IQ tests were required, only a teacher recommendation. There are now gifted programs in every school. Go figure.

I don't have my actual score; however I do know it is in the top 2% in the world. I know this as I was invited to join Mensa (they administered the test) and have joined.

The real answer is not what you score but the percentile rank it is in. Some tests score on a scale of 1 - 10 and others go as high as 1600. Most standard tests are scaled at 100 as the mean (medium average score) and have a standard deviation pre set (10 points or 15 points are most common.)

A score of 1 deviation above or below the mean is an average IQ; 75% of the population will score in this 20 point range. 2 deviations above is considered above average to gifted and talented; this is the range artistic individuals will normally score in. 3 standard deviations above the mean is considered very high and it is this range that is the top2%; commonly refered to as being genius.

Any one that says they scored at a particular number needs to be able to give the percentile that they scored in or the number is meaningless. A score of 130 on one test may be high on another it may be only average. It all comes down to the test and how that individual test is scored.

If you read the other answers here it shows the range and variation I have written about. Some of these answers are OK but non of them mean squat without the percentile rankings.

I'm 13 and have an IQ of 134. I used www.iqtest.com and it was really easy. I'm in an honors class and Humanities which is a gifted and talented class. There's only 4 classes. 2 for 8th graders and 2 for 9th graders. I am 1 of 45 students in Humanities and there are about 800-900 people in my class. I thought my iq was like 127

I know mine and was high on the tests; so I don't tell it to anyone because their expectations of me are then too high as well and I am an average person.

My I.Q. ? Don't know, don't care. As it applies in my day to day life, what good would knowing my I.Q. score ? I'm more than brain cells, knowledge, intelligence...I'm also humor, heart, curious, compassionate... Numbers in these cases are not of importance to me to know...I simply feel and relate.
