What's with all the remix songs done to popular tunes?

Question

I heard a Cher remix of "Do you believe in love" backed by AC/DC's "You shook me all night long" - what a slaughter job.
I've heard some others on the radio. It irks me because I think I'm going to hear a song I'm familiar with, then it turns into some remix crap.

I hear ya. I get so annoyed when i hear the start of a song that i'm into, but turns into some twisted version.

I agree with those saying that remixes are often crappy and attempting to cash in on an already released piece of music. On the other hand, though, remixing a song can be a good learning experience for beginning DJs, producers, electronic musicians, etc. I own a few remix packs of BT songs and while I would never dream of trying to release my own remixes of his material as part of an album or a separate single — that's friggin' atrocious — playing with them has taught me some things and frankly, it's pretty fun. If I ever finished a remix (:P), I'd probably just share it around with friends and fellow BT fans to gain input.

AMEN, bro, or sis! as a dj, i'm quite sick of legal plagarism of perfectly good songs being released as "new" music. riding the coattails of talented artists by use of some hi tech gadgetry only shows a lack of imagination on the part of those copycats. some re-releases (covers) of hit songs no way near the original greatness of the song in its original form!

most remixes do usually suk like that..the only reason for it is for people to buy the song again and for the celebs to get the publicity...i totally agree with what u r sayin..
