I'm 13 and still haven't started my period. I've been getting discharge for about a year, I've been moody occasionally but I haven't had any pains (That I think are period pains, but I have had some that I might not have thought anything of) I know it sounds wierd, but I want to start, it's making me anxious because all the girls in my family started at 12-13, and I know someone that didn't start until they were 18, I don't want to be someone like that! Is there anything that could be stopping me from starting? Anything that could bring my period forward a bit? All my friends have started but I just don't like the discharge, but no result?!

The answer below said there could be something wrong because of the discharge... I know I will want it gone but at least my mind would be at ease because I got it. I don't want to go to the doctor, it would be embarrasing for me, I don't think it's made me feel better because there may be something wrong.

I raised my daughter, she was 2 months shy of 16. no worries!

It just varies a lot. I matured late too.

If you are real or even somewhat athletic, this can delay it too.

my daughter had the discharge several months prior to starting.

You learn a lot raising a girl

rule of thumb on those. No strong odor, white or yellowish, OK odor or other color see the dr. Could be a little infection, etc.

I am sure there is some concern on your part. The discharge is typically when you are ovulating...and then your period would begin. Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to go to a gynecologist and have them check you over. 13 is not too old to not have a period.... but it would ease your mind of you saw a doctor. He might put you on some hormones that would begin your cycles. Good luck~

If your having discharge but no period, there might something wrong. My cousin has discharge but doesn't get a period because theres something wrong with her ovaries. But don't stress too much, once you have it, you'll wish it gone. I started my period at 9 before all the other girls and I told my mom (I didn't know exactly what a period was) I wanted it to stop bleeding and I was freaking out.

I got mine on Sunday, May 8, 2005! I was 13 years old, and very upset! I had discharge about two weeks before I did! Trust me, once you get it, you'll want it gone! You feel disgusting, and always have to wear annoying trash you don't wanna (pads and tampons). Tampons are annoying, and pads feel like you're wearing a beach towel between your legs! I still hate my period! Don't wish for it too soon!

Don't worry... Once you get it, you will want it to go away. It's mostly just an annoyance.

Anyway... I was 14 when I started and so was my sister. I had other friends that started at 10 and 11. The age range is all over the place.

When your body is ready, it will happen.

Trust me, the later the better. What's wrong with not getting it till you're 18? No one will know but you. Just enjoy not having to deal with it.
