Medically talking, why do people cry? What makes them cry? I notice that some people start to cry even if they don't feel like they want to. And it just happens. Can you tell me why?
(I couldn't find another section that could fit this question, so I put it here.)

Okay, this is MY theory. I'll look up the truth on the internet after, but I'll first say what I think and I'll see afterwards if I'm right.

Have you noticed that you mostly cry when you are really happy or really sad? That means that you cry because you feel intense emotion. When you feel intense emotion, your brain sends the message to your body, to the glands. And those glands react when it comes to this kind of feeling, and they form the tears which spill out of your eyes.

NOW here's what I found on the net: "Tears flow from tear glands into your eyes through tiny tear ducts. The tear glands are located under your upper lids, and when stimulated, produce tears to form a thin film over your eyeballs. Every time you blink the film spreads over your eyes to keep them moist and free of dust"

So see? I was right. :) My reasoning was right. Those glands that are connected to your eyes are stimulated by dust or high emotion, and when the brain senses that emotion, it sends a message to your eye glands and the glands react by forming the tears.

I was right! *dances*

People cry, because they are sending out a physical signal that
they need help ... help either emotionally or physically.

Babies are the perfect example of this. Whether they need their diaper changed, nourishment or just to be held ... and loved.
