3.9 million in total population, and they have made one of the most successful bands ever, richest, most popular etc. They are truly amazing musicians, i mean they were a band even before they could play, and bono is loved by people especially americans. They definately make Ireland look GOOD!

I don't think there is one single answer to this question. I think it has to be a mixture of the time they started playing together, their background growing up in Ireland before is was as prosperous as it is now and what music people were interested in when they first started. They have been sucessful and strong for over 25 years and consistantly put out great music, so the combination of all these factors is like catching lighting in a bottle.

I THINK U2 are the most overated band in history . Cant see why you like them so much. I think they are boring and musically i think they are extremely limited. But thats just my opinion, you probably hate the music i like. If were all the same it would be boring.

Like the Welsh, the Irish produce many varied excellant singers. You cannot go into a pub in Dublin without seeing and enjoying a folk group. Fact of life.

Ireland didn't produce U2. They just happen to come out of Ireland. I agree with you they do make Ireland look good. If you like U2 look up "window in the skies" it is really good.
