Okay what type of pot?? ceramic and the mold is into the glaze throw it away . If you're talking alumunium or stainless steel or glass just clean it with some bleach and you're ready to go. If it is into a porous material it is usually easier to throw it away. If it is on a non-porous material just clean it well and reuse.

Generally, cooking pots are not porous. Once the mold is cleaned out of the pot with detergent and plenty of hot water, it will be safe to use. If she has a dishwasher, all the better.

What type of pot? Flower pot? Cooking pot? I'd have no trouble reusing a flower pot that held mold but was cleaned using chlorine bleach and plenty of rise water and drying in the sun. Mold in a cooking pot? I might balk at that, but if it is cleaned with bleach, rinsed and perhaps boiled as well, I might be able to bring myself to reuse it.
