I want to go to North Carolina to visit my friends and see their high school graduation this June. Can I legally get a hotel room? I'm 18.

Sure, but expect some static unless you have a credit card. They may want you to pay in advance.
Best bet says reserve the room NOW online using a travel site...remember, lots of folks travel to watch graduations. If you have no credit card, see about getting one of those loadable Visa gift cards at your local mall.

In most cases it should be no problem as long as you have a Credit Card in your name, that is an actual Credit Card with your name imprinted on it, and not a generic Gift/Debit Card. But it will depend on the policy of the Hotel.
You will always be allowed to book the hotel in advance with a Credit Card, but some will not let you check in if you are under 21. If you are not sure it is best to contact the hotel directly before you go there to find out their exact policy.

some hotel require you to be 21 or over with a credit card
some other hotels and motels will rent to you 18 + with a cc or cash - just ask in advance or book on priceline and they generally wont require an id when you check in

As long as you have a valid ID,a credit or debit card,U should be fine.If U are driving a car sometimes they take the tag number,no biggie-I am in NC too. Welcome to NC-enjoy the graduation then have some fun!
