You've got a few choices

1) If you're lucky, it's just the Power Supply Unit (the bit at the top of the casing with the big fan + the power cable going into it) that's blown, and you can just swap it for a new one for around £40 - £50.

2) If you're unlucky, it's the motherboard that has gone, in which case you're probably best off with either a whole new computer, or slinging out the old internals for an updated Motherboard / Processor / Memory combo............ but you should be able recover everything on the hard drive, either by leaving the drive in the old casing if going with the new motherboard / processor / RAM in the old case option........... or by taking it out and either having it fitted as a slave drive, or fitting it inside an external HDD caddy / enclosure which attaches to the new computer via a USB port.

3) If you're really unlucky, and the hard drive has packed in, then you MIGHT be able to have the contents rescued by a specialist company such as ONTRACK DATA RECOVERY - http://www.ontrack.com

Has it gone bang or you mean what happens when and if goes boes bang in the future.

Whenever it happens get a new one but make sure you back up your important info, like documents on a pen drive.

Actaully it's very rare that they ever go bang.
They normally go sizzle or just die quietly.
Most common things to break are the motherboard or the cpu fries.
Which are silent.
Or the Power supply dies.
There isn't much in a pc that actually will go bang.
A monitor (old style tube one) would go bang but it'd need some serious abuse.

Probably you'll get a fright, probably swear, probably cry, then either you Will go to mummy or daddy and ask for a new one, or,after all that you just go out and buy a new one unless you have a bloody good warranty on your PC.

As there are no components in it that should do more than a little 'pop' at worst then i would suggest you dive for cover, then head out shopping for a new one!
