What can I wear with a Black and White polka dot skirt?

Question

I have skirt, about knee length, with tiny white polka dots and a white ribbon around the hips. I really want to wear it for Christmas, but I do not know what to wear for a top. I would really like to find something that is "festive" or at least more wintery than just a fitted tee, but I don't know if a sweater would be too much. What do you think?

Well plain and simple. Black or white shirt with black pumps or those cute flat shoes out now. If you're trying for festive maybe even a red shirt. It's really up to you. I would say stay away from bulky sweaters and stick with more of like the thinner sweaters.

Polka dots pieces are trickey to pull off they are definetly an "eye-catching" piece of clothing. They are very classic and reminiscent of 50's glamour. (or 80's New Wave fashion, depends on what look your going for)

From your description, the little ribbon on the waist sounds like the look you should be going for is a flirty,feminine and elegant look.

When choosing a top, I recommend staying away from anything that has multi-colors or too much prints or designs. I recommend a top that is a solid color like a black or white color because the polka dots are "loud" and they make a bold statement themselves. So keep the top minimal in design and color.

The fabric of the top can make your outfit more interesting, like a silk or chiffon or any material that has a nice "sheen" or "shiney" texture to it (chiffon, silk, etc) I don't recommend cotton because it can make you look too casual.

For a top, I recommend maybe a fitted halter, or nice elgant short sleeve button up shirt. Or a nice tank (thats not cotton).

Also try playing around with accessories, they can make your look very interesting especially if your outfit is very monochromatic. But don't over accessories...keep them simple too Ex. Pearl necklace, Bright Red Shoes, Ornate purse, bold earings pieces.

A sweater would be to much. Something solid colored and very fitting, a tapered shirt at the waist. Maybe a pink or red color would go nicely with the skirt.

i would say if you want to wear a sweater, go with a rele cute white one. if you wanted to get festive you could wear a red sweater and some red pumps with the skirt. if you would rather wear the white sweater i would say maybe get a festive holiday pin and pin it on the sweater.
