Yes, very tacky. It's like being too lazy to type/write 5 extra letters to make a word look proper.

It's like stupid chat-speak. LOL and ROFLOL I can understand. But saying "rly" in place of "really" and "u" in place of "you" is just lazy.

Many people have different opinions about this. X-Mas is considered disrespectful because the X cuts out Christ but X supposedly stands for Christ but it can be tacky it depends on when and how you use it.

Some people believe that the term is part of an effort to "take Christ out of Christmas" or to literally "cross out Christ"
However, long before modern day "x-mas" X or XP was used as an abbreviation for Christ because of the Greek word Χριστος (meaning "Christ")

Tacky, disrespectful. If you don't want to say Christmas, say happy holidays or something like that. Those of you who think it's okay because the x symbolizes the cross need to do your research for the real meaning. It's a mockery and a slam against Christ and his followers.

Not at all. It's merely an abbreviation for Christmas, which is an abbreviation for Christ's Mass. But Xmas is acceptable because the X represents the cross.

I think it is very tacky and very disrespectful to Jesus Christ...Christmas is about Jesus coming to earth to save all of us sinners..."Christ"mas...We should never take away from such a wonderful and loving name...

Acually it is a short way of spelling Christmas, and the X is like "criss-cross", so it works. Christina Agulaira(or however you spell her name) used to be called "Xtina" because it's like "criss-tina". Okay? XMAS can be pretty tacky, though.

Yes! Christmas is much better. I hear that many people use X-mas because it's "less offending" but I don't think that saying Christ is offending. Many people are Christian.

it's not really tacky , i don't use it, though, i prefer the proper method of Christmas. I'm not religous, but i think, as they say, we should keep the Christ in Christmas.
