So! He still has a finical responsibility to the child. So the child is suppose to wait until he is how old? He knew he was 19 when he did the deed and if that was an issue for him, he should have used protection but since he did not this is his problem for the next 18 years. Yes he needs to directly do for the child or agree on a set amount a month with the child's mother. He needs to help out as much as he can. You know I READ THE QUESTION WRONG! No you should you have been paying child support if he was 18. So no you don't he needs to handle that. You are the grand parent you do what you want when you want how you want.

I guess it depends on what state you live in but from my understanding when a child graduates from high school or turns 18 years old, the parent no longer pays child support. At the age of 19, the child is considered an adult. In North Carolina if the child goes to college, the parent does not have to pay child support. I am not sure about other states though.

If there is a court order to that effect then yes. Is some states child support might continue till the child is 21, Usually the legal age is 18, and then what you give your children is up to you. Like I said, the court order or it's equivalent legal document should clearly specify the cutoff age. If you do not have any legal agreement, all you have to do is find out what is the age when a child is considered an adult in your state.

ummm hello people an 18 yr old is not really an adult. i say stop paying the spouse child support perhaps however still help the kid out. how many of you still needed money from mom and dad after you turned 18? if one is giving to the child directly for clothes and help with certain things from time to time and education than the spouse doesn't need to get the child support but thast is up to the parents to decide on what works best for the family

Only if the child is still in High School. All Childsupport should end at age 18 according to law.
However, if the child is disabled and requires medical assistance of anykind you are responsible for their support until he/she qualifies for state/federal aid.

In the state I live in, once the child is 18, child support stops. Unless the child is in school (college, university) or the child is a special needs child (developmentally delayed, autistic, handicapped) and continues to live with the other parent.
Course, in my state, child support can include tuition payments for the college/university.

That is dependent upon the state you live and the order that was set up. If the child is still in high school or college the answer is usually yes. Go to the courts and find out. or to the bureau of support. God bless****

call the family support division----
find out if the child is in college-----
each state has different laws on this subject----
actually when the child turned 18yrs you should have talked to a lawyer and stop paying child support....
if the child goes to college get transcripts and attendance records from the school. if the child is failing and doesn't attend, then, once again no child support should be payed. remember these x-wifes just want the money....
if your x-wife is like mine, look out their GOLD DIGGERS AND LIARS.

here are some links that may help. also, one is a CS calculator link to help figure out ball park what your supposed to be paying or if its over.
unless the child is disabled, then there are a whole other set of laws for that.

depends on what state you live in..Do not listen to women, most of them are gold diggers anyway.
My children are in NYS and I paid until they were 21.
A lot of states 18 years is the max.
Consult your divorce agreement ,it should say in the agreement,I know I hate pulling it out and reading it also, but you answer is in the agreement,I am sure of it.
If not ,call up child support services ,or whatever department that takes care of the child support, they will be able to tell you for sure.
Hopefully for your sake you have fullfilled your obligation..good luck!
I have paid my obligation, both of my children are over 21 ..now It is my life that i have to concentrate on,now that I have taken care of them until adulthood.
