I have a lot of musical experience with string instruments ( I play the violin and the viola) and I know how to play the piano (not very well though, I'm afraid). Will it be easy for me to teach myself to play the guitar? Can you recommend any books or websites that may help me out? thanks!

It depends on how determined you are on learning how to play the guitar. If you set your mind on it and take it seriously, you can do anything you want. Oh, Sh!t, im starting to sound like Dr. Phill.
Do you think it will be easy for me to forget that? I seriously doubt it...

No...it probably won't be easy for you to learn how to play the guitar.

Violins and violas you use a bow I believe. In a guitar, you have to press down on the strings to make the sounds. It hurts your fingers...

It really depends. I've been playing the guitar for six years, and it was hard for me at first. But if you really work at it, I'm sure you're be able to learn quickly.

There's also a book called, "Rhythm Guitar: The Complete Guide". It's good for beginners.

I think you will do fine. It all depends on your level of commitment and how badly you really want to learn. Guitar Center has a lot of books and videos for beginner guitarists.

yes, since you have experience with STRINGED instruments, i think it would be easy, but you need time for practicing.

wish you the best and good luck.

I think it all depends on what level you want to take it to. If you want to just strum some major chords then, sure it'll be easy.
