Yes I believe the UK is overly politically correct in some places... I think it depends alot on the company you work for.. in small to medium organisations, ppl are not seemingly so serious about being pc all day and just get on with sorting things out.. larger organisations seem to concentrate alot on PC behaviour and everything gets analysed until the world ends..

Some things are just down right wrong so it's natural to react and say it's not PC.. if some things are just funny but not insulting or hurting anyone, some ppl go over the top and say that's not PC .. that's when you can't help but beat them with a wooden spoon to get a sense of humour.

Yes, to a certain extent. I don't believe we should go back to the 70's, where it was perfectly acceptable to not hire a woman because you believed she wasn't as good as a man and things like that. However I think that bringing in new legislation just in case someone gets offended, or because a very very small minority of people get offended is stupid. Why can't we just treat everyone with the SAME amount of tolerance?

Calling Christmas the festive season or whatever is an example of this - very few non-christians are any more offended by Christmas than we are of ramadan or the festival of lights. Many non-Christians love Christmas just as much as Christians do, just as people with no religion do too. If a very small amount of people ARE offended then screw them, let them be offended, you can't please everyone.

Baa Baa rainbow sheep is also absolutely ridiculous - the sheep is black, so what? I think it's more discriminatory to imply that because the sheep is black it requires special treatment, so another aspect of it needs to be focused on. The rhyme isn't "baa baa black sheep - let's burn his house and take his money based on the colour of his wool", it's a perfectly innocent children's song for non-specific-deity's sake!

No - I love political correctness, it is simply what we used in the past to call good manners. I notice that Mags uses a 'pc' term ("a man or woman in power") to berate pc language. You can't have it both ways, love. Either we go back to calling each other the kind of names which result in asterisks on yahoo answers, or we treat each other with respect. Are you really all Daily Mail readers, who believe all that nonsense about not being able to ask for a black coffee ? I'll get more thumbs down for this than anything, but all I'm really arguing for is mutual respect and good manners.

Political correctness went too far in the 1980's with some over-zealous left-wingers but they were soon ridiculed and they shut up.

However, the racists saw a propaganda opportunity and have sought to keep the idea of political correctness (especially their favourite "PC gone mad") alive as a means of dividing people who would prefer to integrate.

Think about it - who benefits from crap about Christmas being banned and half-witted stories about Baa Baa Blue Sheep? The BNP and UKIP racists do - they can make political capital with lies about your way of life being under threat. Does anyone actually personally know any Muslims, Bhuddists or Hindus offended by our Christmas celebrations?

Don't believe the Daily Mail & BNP propaganda about PC gone mad. It's designed to divide when most of us want to work together.

And we call them whiteboards now, because they are white. When they were black we called them blackboards. See how it works?

The death knell of political correctness is at this minute already being sounded. Church leaders in UK and USA are already demanding the return of Christmas. Walmart has told all of its managers to go flat out with CHRISTMAS and the CHRISTMAS message. Likewise here in UK businesses who want my money had better remember it's CHRISTMAS and not WINTERFEST or some such nonsence.

Yes the UK is trying way too hard to be politically correct. Pity they don't focus on important things.

I think we have fallen into a trap of not wanting to offend people to the point that we are afraid to say something. It has gone way too far.

The PC brigade have all but destroyed the commonsense approach to life in their drive for equality & diversity.

I really would support the Army taking over the country & executing every last left wing mofo.

You are right, because it is the idiots that think that they are doing good, but they don't think about the consequences for there stupidity. They should get a life and get a real job so that they can live between all these different people.
