This is a problem all over. If there are no jobs, the best is make your own works for felons and recessions.
Start a company to put felons to work and Clevland or Ohio might put up some cash. Get a contact from them for office, park cleaning, ect as disadvantaged. If they are going to label felons, use that!!
What skills do you all have? See what maybe together you have enough for some kind of business.
For instance building small electric enclosed transport modules which are very cheap to build, run, going 20 mph and probably don't need a license for yet gives you 20-40 mile range. A business for keeping them running too could work. It could be easily, cheaply built using wood/epoxy, bike parts, finished clear, look like a fine piece of furniture. Small enough ones can be taken on a train, bus, like wheelchairs.
Woodwork art, art boxes, vases, made from mill scraps. Birds, dolphins, angels, ect are good sellers at flea markets or e-bay, craigslist.
Build strip plank Kayaks, canoes, ect.
Selling food at events, lunch, make and delivery, dinners in a box, ect. Make a cart and sell sandwichs to office, other worker at their jobs. Do quality food and you will make good money.
There are books in the library that have hunderds of home, ect businesses you can do for almost nothing.
Is there money in a hobby?
I gave up working for other people yrs ago and have not regreted it.
And remember, it's not what you make, it's what you spend!!

It's tough for felons to find decent jobs. It's like they've done their time, but are still being punished. I'm not sure what services there are in Cleveland to find employers that are willing to hire felons, but have them go the state employment office and inquire about it. Also try the department of corrections. In Portland, OR I know felons who got a list of felon friendly employers from their P.O.'s Your cousins could also go to temporary employment agencies. If they prove themselves, their temp job may become permanent. Tell them not to get discouraged; something will come along. It may not be the job of their dreams, but it will be a start.

Maybe try a construction company or a tree cutting small business.
We had our trees cut by a new company and they had a couple mexicans and a young man who had just got out of jail. I gave thema cup of coffee and talked with talked with them a bit.
People change and want to move on and these guys really did a good job. Try Monroeville or West Moreland County, PA.
Peace

I suggest you visit the following website:

Expunging records would be their best bet. A criminal record does not have to be a life sentence.

Best of luck to them!
Happy Holidays!

It is like that everywhere. To be honest with you l personally wouldn't hire one either under most circumstances but, it all depends on what they did.

that's thier fault. there are no jobs just for "felons" in case you did not know. if they are stupid or talk like a homey or look like a homey nobody is gonna want to hire them they need to look and talk respectively. People don't just look at the skills.
