Is there such a thing as a white lie? Where do you draw the line of distinction between white lies and bad lies? Or is lying altogether immoral and wrong?

Your thoughts... ?

Ther is no such thing as right and wrong. There have been many wars fought to prove this. A white lie is simply not mentioning all that there is to say. One may have any number of reasons for this but I would like to encourage that none of them lead to harm. Morals only belong to the bearer and simply are personal conflicts that need to be sorted out by ourselfs. Conflicts lead to change and unfortunatly change leads to conflicts, thus the catch 22. Understanding will lead to happiness and there is really only one standerd in life and that is, DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU, ITS PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND IT IS THE ONLY WAY. There is a principle to life and the principal is, Each and every single thing has an exact and complete opposit. Love - Hate, Cold - Hot, Body - Spirit, Earth - Heaven, Anger - Joy, Sorrow - Happiness, Man - Woman, Plus - Minus, North - South need I say more. Balance is the key and we can definatly not have TRUTH without the LIE.

It really depends on the situtation. A white lie is defined as a lie that doesn't hurt anybody... but if you lie to your kid and say "Yes honey that's a gorgeous picture" it's supposed to be a white lie. But since the kid made it themselves and tried it is wonderful and beautiful. But then go back to your middle shcool days when art was still a forced subject.... did you tell white lies then when you say it's a great picture????? Is it a white lie when someone gets a haircut they love but you hate and you say it's geart???? what about lying to protect someone? It all depends on your personal idea of right and wrong.
Personally i think lying is bad, and white lies don't really exist...

Well, I remember a nun when I was in grade school told us, "Lies don't come in colors, so don't say you just told a little white one."

It can be hard, sometimes, to be honest, especially when it might hurt someone's feelings, but in general I try to phrase the truth gently. For instance, my friend Z wears a dress with horizontal stripes and asks me if it makes her look fat. I'd try to answer with something like, "Z, I think something in vertical stripes would have been a better choice, but the color is becoming."

I try to end my criticism with something positive, without sacrificing truthfulness.

I guess Sister's teaching on lies stuck with me :-) !!

If it somewhat is a misinform you, bending what you planned to be the reality, it somewhat is a white lie. you're mendacity approximately your opinion. Like if somebody asks you in case you enjoyed their pie, you're able to lie and say definite, it somewhat is a lit because of the fact that is not your certainty and it somewhat is a white lie reason it somewhat is warding off the reality to spare someones emotions.

I figure a lie is a lie, but sometimes if it keeps from hurting someone's feelings, most people think that is okay. For example if someone asks you if you like their dress and you really don't , but you hate to say so, that is a white lie.

Everybody at one point or another gets cornered into lying to keep from offending somebody. The one's that don't are liars. White lies are harmless and only you can make the distinction.

The Bible teaches that the "Lier" will not tarry in the sight of God. All lies will have their exposure at the day of judgment. All lies are harmful and cannot in any way be seen as protecting people from harm.

A lie is a lie no matter what color you assign it.
A liar is immoral and not to be trusted.

Of course. Write the block letters "LIE" on a black piece of paper and then color them white.
