No, I don't. I don't like what many of them sing about, but you might be surprised to learn that there is an OFF button on radios and televisions that can block that music from your children's ears.

Don't blame the rappers and their lyricists for lack of parenting. It's the same with movies, video games, and television programs. Parents control what their children watch and listen to.

Children should be taught from a very young age what is reality and what is fantasy. They should also be taught to appreciate the better, more tasteful offerings and to ignore that which is not beneficial to their emotional well-being.

It's easier to point a finger at the rappers than it is to take responsibility for your child.

People asked the same question about Cab Calloway in the 1920s! "Young children" don't have jobs, can't afford to buy televisions or CDs, and don't therefore have access to anything their parents do not provide for them.

Rap is just another form of artistic expression. Artists are just trying to make a living, it isn't their job to protect children, it's the childrens' parents' job!

Achieving this goal any other way is censorship, and censorship is always a bad idea, since it always boost the value of whatever you try to censor and acts as a much more powerful marketing tool!

no i dont think so. my sisters and I listen to rap and hip hop all the time and its not like we're gunna rape someone. It is not on what the rappers are saying, its what the parents of the children are doing. If the parents are going to let their child rape or kill someone or descrate women then thats their falt. People just blame rap music because they happen to talk about those things. I think that if you totally wipe out the universe of rap your still gunna have violence and descrimination. The people who take care of these children who are doing bad things are not incontrol and personally, I really dont think they care. So some people may think that rap is going to destroy the world but its just a form of expression and its the same thing as country and pop.

absolutley. no one under 17 should listen to it. it provides a view on the world that was formed by someone in distress. while that is a great way to show the rest of the world your hardship in an artistic way, children have not had the opportunity to form their own ideas of society yet. this can tarnish the way they look at the world from a young age.

No. It's the parents responsibility what their kids listen to. My child is not mature enough to listen to that music... but my best friend, her kids listen to it, and they are fine. It's the parents that have the most influence on their kids.
My daughter is 14 and I don't let her listen to about 80% of the rap out there. There are also alot of rock songs that I won't let her listen to. It's not the music, it's the lyrics.

You need to monitor the lyrics of those songs. Many times the children are singing those words and do not even know what they are saying but we do. Not all rapping is bad but you need to check.
